All eligible Americans have the right to vote and you can too! While you still can vote, the rules for people in the armed forces or abroad are different than people living in the United States. What Are the 4 Simple Steps of Voting?
Step 1: Register to vote.
Step 2: Find out where to vote. You'll receive your polling place information in the mail after you register. Polling places can change at the last minute, so be sure to double-check it right before Election Day.
Step 3: Become an educated voter. Check out a League of women voters guide. This guide is non partisan and will give you all the current information about the people you will see on the ballot.
Step 4: Mark your calendar for Election Day -- November 4, 2008 -- and VOTE!
Can I vote if I have convicted of a felony?
Yes- as long as you have met all the requirements of the courts and are not on Parole or Probation, You have the right to vote.
Can I vote if I have on out of state I.D.
Yes- The address on your voter registration and ID do not have to be the same.
What do I need to bring to vote?
Any state issued I.D, Drivers license; utility bill, passport or your voter registration card will be sufficient.
What is the difference in early voting or waiting till Election day?
Early Vote begins two weeks before the election and ends the Friday before Election day. You may go in to any early vote location and cast your ballot. Here is a map of all known early voting sites.
Can I register others to vote?
Yes! You must be deputized to do so. Any eligible voter can be deputized Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3 pm at 1001 Preston, 4th floor. You can also get extra voter registration cards here.
Election Day:
Polls are open from 7-7. You must vote in your designated precinct on Election Day. These locations change and are again released days before the election. Houston Votes will be able to assist you in locating your precinct on Election Day.
How do I use the e slate voting System?
Voters must be 18 to vote and 17 years and 10 months to register
